Iconic Luxury Hotels and L&R Hotels, the two hospitality arms of global investment firm L+R, have announced a merger to create a single, unified operating platform: Iconic Hotels and Resorts.
The new entity will serve as the dedicated, fully integrated operating division for L+R’s owned global hotel portfolio, which includes landmark assets such as Cliveden House, Nobu Portman Square, and Excelsior Venice Lido.
The merger is the cornerstone of a wider corporate transformation for L+R (formerly London and Regional), which manages a wholly owned real estate portfolio valued at over £10bn.
The firm is bringing its four distinct verticals, Hotels, Commercial Real Estate, Private Credit, and Ventures, under a single brand to streamline operations and enhance third-party capital relationships.
To lead the newly formed platform, L+R has appointed Shan Kanagasingham as chief operating officer of Iconic Hotels and Resorts.
Kanagasingham joins with 30 years of global hospitality experience, most recently spearheading the growth of Auberge Resorts Collection from seven to 40 properties. In his new role, he will oversee global operations and lead value-creation strategies across five countries.
As part of the launch, Iconic Hotels and Resorts unveiled a new 7,000-square-foot global headquarters in central London, housing 100 specialists and a new in-house interior design studio.
The firm’s select-service platform, Atlas Hotels, the largest Holiday Inn Express franchisee in Europe, will continue to be operated on a stand-alone basis from its headquarters in Leicester.
