Hilton has announced plans to open its first hotels in Plymouth and Cork as part of a regional expansion across the UK and Ireland.
The developments, part of the Tapestry Collection brand, include the renovation of a 19th Century landmark in Devon and a new-build property in southern Ireland.
The two projects are expected to create approximately 100 jobs and follow recent company growth in regional locations including Dover, York, Portrush and St Albans.
The New Continental Plymouth, which originally opened in 1865, will undergo a full renovation of its 120 guest rooms under a franchise agreement with Elevate Hotels Plymouth.
Located on Millbay Road, the hotel is scheduled to open in spring 2027 and will include meeting facilities, a fitness centre, and a restaurant and bar.
In Ireland, a 103-room hotel will be constructed on South Terrace in Cork city centre in partnership with JMK Group.
The Cork property, expected to open in autumn 2027, will feature a mix of standard rooms and extended-stay accommodation equipped with kitchenettes.
Development vice president for UK, Ireland and the Nordics, Nick Smart, said: “Both signings highlight our commitment to expanding our lifestyle portfolio across the UK and Ireland. These distinctive, locally inspired hotels tap into the vibrancy, rich heritage and growing tourism appeal of Plymouth and Cork, making them a great fit for the Tapestry Collection brand as we continue to grow our footprint beyond the biggest, most well-known cities.”
Elevate Hotels Plymouth managing director, Al Malik, said: “We are delighted to have acquired the New Continental Hotel, a landmark property with a long-standing heritage in the heart of Plymouth.
