Whitbread has launched a new Premier Inn training centre in Lincolnshire as part of its Thrive programme to support employment for individuals with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Whitbread has expanded its Thrive programme by opening a new Premier Inn training centre at Lincolnshire County Council’s InspireU campus. The facility, located on Smith Street in Lincoln city centre, includes three en-suite bedrooms, a reception desk, a corridor, and a linen room, mirroring a standard hotel environment.
The training centre is a collaborative effort with Lincolnshire County Council and will be utilized by local special schools, colleges, and adult services. This initiative aims to provide young people with SEND the skills and confidence needed for employment. Participants are expected to progress into supported internships or permanent roles within Premier Inn hotels.
Whitbread plans to create 100 supported internships annually by 2026, contributing to the reduction of the disability employment gap. The new training centre is the second to open under the Thrive programme this year, offering a realistic hotel setting for skill development in hospitality.
The initiative aligns with government efforts to enhance employment outcomes for disabled individuals. Whitbread encourages other employers to adopt similar inclusive recruitment practices. The Thrive programme is part of Whitbread’s broader Force for Good initiative, which has facilitated employment opportunities for numerous young people in Premier Inn hotels.
