The Sloane Club reopens following £20m refurb

The Sloane Club, one of London’s oldest private members’ clubs, has reopened after a £20m refurbishment and rebrand.

The two-year project, led by managing director Neena Jivraj-Stevenson and general manager Anna Jackson, included a full redesign by Russell Sage Studio with new interiors, dining areas and an updated visual identity.

The redevelopment includes Lila, a 251m² South-East Asian-inspired restaurant and bar with a retractable glass roof, and Venus, the club’s signature dining room celebrating seasonal British produce.

Additionally, a new private dining space, The Wren Room, accommodates up to 12 guests, while The Study, opening later in October, will offer a co-working hub that can convert into a screening room.

The club’s transformation continues into 2025 with the launch of a wellness suite, new restaurants including Helena’s, the Demob cocktail bar, and refurbished accommodation featuring 56 bedrooms and 10 suites for members and guests.

The reopening also saw new members appointed to the leadership team, including brand and marketing director Clare Lusher, formerly of Birch Community and AEG Europe; food and beverage director Robert Rodier Gaggl, previously of The Arts Club; and head of membership Alex Rich, formerly of the Birley Clubs.

Together they have led the two-year renewal programme, re-establishing The Sloane Club as a heritage institution reshaped for contemporary London life.

Founded in 1922 to provide accommodation for ex-servicewomen after the First World War, The Sloane Club is owned by Queensway, the Jivraj family’s hospitality business, and Clearbell Capital.

Jivraj-Stevenson, who represents the third generation of the Jivraj family’s leadership at Queensway, said: “For over a century, The Sloane Club has been a sanctuary for connection, culture and community. This transformation honours our heritage while welcoming a new generation who value tradition with a modern spirit.”

Jackson, who joined from Firmdale Hotels and previously oversaw operations at Chiltern Firehouse and Chateau Marmont, added: “Exceptional service remains at the heart of The Sloane Club. Our new restaurants and reimagined spaces enhance that sense of belonging that defines the club experience.”

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
