Victorian farmhouse B&B at Sissinghurst Castle brought to market

A Victorian farmhouse bed and breakfast on the Sissinghurst Castle estate in Kent has been brought to market with a leasehold asking price of £150k.

Sissinghurst Castle Farmhouse, a nine-bedroom guesthouse and events venue, sits within the 450-acre estate owned by the National Trust, about 50 metres from the gardens of Sissinghurst Castle near Cranbrook.

The property, which includes individu\ally styled en suite rooms and views over the estate and Elizabethan Tower, has been restored in recent years while retaining original features such as fireplaces and sash windows. Outside, it offers a terrace overlooking woodland and farmland.

The business also hosts private events including weddings, parties and corporate functions.

Current owners Richard and Anna Williams said they were stepping down to spend more time with family. They said: “We love the estate for all its beauty, long walks, and wildlife, with no noise except the dawn chorus and the lambs. From the bluebell woods in the spring, to the pumpkin patch in the autumn, it is a magical place to live.

“Working alongside the National Trust has been an absolute pleasure, and there is a very close-knit community amongst the residents on the estate. We are so proud of the business we have built, but now is the time for someone new to come and make their mark on it, possibly by developing the events side of the business or the evening dining options further.”

Mike Maher, business agent at Christie and Co, which is marketing the property, added: “Sissinghurst Castle Farmhouse is a beautifully presented Victorian farmhouse, positioned next to one of the most famous gardens in England. The sale of the lease presents a fully turn-key opportunity for a new owner to step into a well-established and reputable business, with strong foundations and an excellent reputation, as well as exciting potential for further growth.”

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
