Travelodge has opened a new 151-room hotel in Stratford, east London, marking its 86th property in the capital.
The Travelodge London Stratford Centre has been created through the conversion of a vacant office building, which the company said avoided the carbon impact associated with new construction while bringing empty space back into economic use.
The hotel has been refurbished to the group’s latest brand standards and includes an 85 Bar Café.
Located in Stratford town centre, the hotel is within walking distance of Stratford Station, providing Underground, National Rail and Docklands Light Railway connections.
Nearby attractions include Westfield Stratford City, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London Stadium and the ABBA Arena.
Travelodge operates more than 600 hotels across the UK and has plans to open more than 300 additional locations as it continues to expand its network.
Tony O’Brien, UK development director at Travelodge, said: “Converting an existing office building into a modern hotel is a highly sustainable way to grow, whilst also delivering high-quality, great-value accommodation in a prime, well-connected location.
“From the developer’s perspective, the new lease to Travelodge has turned what was a vacant office building and financial liability into a great quality financial asset, secured under a long-term lease agreement. Stratford continues to see strong demand, and we’re delighted to open our doors here.”
