The Alma Lodge in Stockport, Greater Manchester, has sold for an undisclosed price to Corner Stone MCR Property Group, which is growing its property development and investment footprint across the UK.
Situated on the town’s Buxton Road, the hotel is home to 52 bedrooms and Henderson’s restaurant.
The property also offers a range of event facilities, including five meeting rooms that can host up to 250 guests, and regularly hosts weddings and private gatherings.
The Corner Stone Group’s acquisition adds to its varied project portfolio in residential and commercial development, long-term property investment, petroleum businesses and nursery operations.
Choudry Abdul Karim, its founder and CEO, is an “experienced and respected entrepreneur” whose holdings span residential and commercial property across the North West of England and South East Asia.
He is joined by his son and company director, Faisal Karim, and fellow director Muhammad Imran.
Commenting on his purchase, Faisal Karim said: “Alma Lodge stood out to us due to its strong location, established reputation, and clear potential for refinement. It aligns naturally with the group’s existing property expertise, while providing a strong foundation for expansion into hospitality.
“This purchase is viewed not as a short-term venture, but as a long-term commitment to building something enduring and community focused. Our vision is to revitalise Alma Lodge through an elegant and considered rebrand, enhancing the guest experience while preserving its traditional character and identity. We aim to make Alma Lodge a central hub, welcoming professionals, families, corporate guests, and the wider community.”
The hotel’s former owners, the Ndu brothers, added: “We are delighted with the sale to the new owners, who we believe will look after the building and staff. We would like to thank Tom O’Malley at Christie and Co who was able to find a credible buyer confidentially.”
