Meininger Hotels has announced its second expansion into the UK and Ireland market with the development of a 232-room property in Dublin’s Liberties district.
The project, a collaboration with Salamisso Developments, follows the group’s recently announced debut in Edinburgh and is scheduled for completion in April 2028.
The 8,163-square-metre building will feature 811 beds across a mix of double, triple, quadruple, and six-bed rooms.
The development is situated adjacent to the Vicar Street music venue and the National College of Art and Design, positioning the brand within a historic neighbourhood currently undergoing significant regeneration.
The move addresses a critical undersupply of accommodation in the Irish capital. Dublin currently records one of the highest hotel occupancy rates in Europe, consistently averaging over 80% in recent years.
Market data suggests the city remains under-supplied in terms of bed-to-overnight-stay ratios compared to other European gateway cities.
The Dublin site is one of eight locations currently in development for the group, alongside projects in Barcelona, Madrid, and Tel Aviv.
Meininger currently operates 36 hybrid hotels across 26 European cities, with a medium-term target of reaching 50 locations.
Ajit Menon, CEO of Meininger Hotels, said: “The new location in Dublin strengthens our position in the British and Irish market and is an important component of our European growth strategy. We are responding to the strong demand and limited capacity in the local hotel sector.”
Frank Gilmer of Salamisso Developments added: “This project responds to strong demand for high-quality, well-connected accommodation while supporting the ongoing revitalization of one of the city’s most historic neighborhoods.”

The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
