Marriott International has signed an agreement to open seven City Express by Marriott hotels in Brazil, marking the brand’s entry into the country as part of a 15-year plan to develop 30 properties in the Northeast region.
Marriott International, Inc. has announced a development agreement with FÁBRICA DE HOTÉIS LTDA to open seven City Express by Marriott hotels in Brazil. This initiative marks the brand’s first entry into the Brazilian market. It is part of a broader strategy to establish 30 properties across the Northeast region of the country over the next 15 years.
The agreement was formalized during a ceremony in Porto de Galinhas, which was attended by local government officials, representatives from the owning real estate firm, Marriott executives, and members of the media.
This development is part of Marriott’s ongoing expansion in the Caribbean and Latin America region. Earlier this year, Marriott announced plans to introduce City Express by Marriott in El Salvador, Argentina, Bolivia, Nicaragua, and Peru. The brand also made its debut in the United States and has plans to enter the Canadian market.
The seven new hotels in Brazil will add over 750 guest rooms across key locations in the Northeast region. These include Ipojuca, Pernambuco, where a hotel will be established in the Suape Industrial Port Complex, and Porto de Galinhas, a major tourist destination, with openings expected by 2028.
Further expansion is planned in the cities of Natal and Fortaleza, with new properties anticipated by early 2028. These hotels aim to accommodate a diverse range of guests, including business professionals and leisure travelers.
Additional hotels are planned for Cabo de Santo Agostinho and other coastal areas, with openings expected by 2029. These developments will cater to corporate, logistics, and leisure travelers, reflecting the economic and tourism growth in Brazil’s Northeast region.
City Express by Marriott, which joined the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio in 2023, targets cost-conscious business and leisure travelers seeking modern and centrally located accommodations.
