Keswick’s Highfield Hotel sold to local investor for £1.8m

The Highfield Hotel and Restaurant in Keswick has officially been acquired by a local investor for an asking price of £1.8m.

The 18-bedroom property, situated on The Heads, was sold on behalf of Caroline Speck and the estate of the late Howard Speck. The hotel occupies a position overlooking Hope Park with views across Derwentwater and Borrowdale.

The new owner, who is entering the hospitality sector for the first time, has closed the business to begin a significant refurbishment and re-configuration. The works are expected to take six months to complete.

Having originally acquired the hotel in 2004, the Speck family are divesting the asset to focus on their existing business, including The Royal Yew in Dean and Shills in Cockermouth.

Haydn Spedding, associate director at the Colliers Manchester office, who handled the sale, said: “The Highfield is a major hotel asset in Keswick, occupying a superb trading position on The Heads overlooking Hope Park and with glorious views over Derwentwater and Borrowdale.

“The Purchasers are looking to take The Highfield to an even higher level and have immediately closed to undertake a very significant refurbishment and re-configuration of the hotel, which is expected to take six months to complete.”

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
