Isle of Skye hotel brought to market with £1.45m guide price

The family-owned Uig Hotel on the Isle of Skye has been brought to market with a guide price of £1.45m.

Drysdale and Company, the Stirling-based commercial property agency that is handling the sale, said trading figures will be released “to serious parties” once a formal viewing has been arranged.

The building, looking over Uig Bay, contains 19 ensuite rooms, a lounge bar with a capacity of 34 and a restaurant that can accommodate 42.

The site of around two and three quarter acres is also home to a detached hotel building with 11 rooms and detached lodge building with eight.

There is additionally a private car park, and staff quarters are included.

Drysdale and Company said that the commercial kitchen at ground floor has been entirely renovated and features the usual dry stores and cold stores.

The firm added that new soft furnishings were installed for the hotel’s rooms in 2023.

It said that the Isle of Skye is popular amongst hillwalkers, who enjoy challenging walks such as the Cuillin Range which offers 12 Munros (mountains over 3000 feet) and easier paths such as the Fairy Pools walk and the Old Man of Storr rock formation.

Drysdale and Company said: “The Uig Hotel presents an excellent opportunity for a purchaser to take on an established trading hotel in a popular tourist location. Skye has long been high up on the list of ‘must see’ places in Scotland due to its spectacular terrain and visitor attractions.

“The hotel is situated to the north of the island and is the ideal base to explore the island.

The hotel benefits from a full compliment of staff and the purchase will include staff

accommodation on site. Former owner’s accommodation within the rear Lodge building has been converted to provide four bedrooms for staff, and the hotel also includes a further three staff bedrooms.”

It added: There is an additional three-bed house currently used by staff a short distance from the hotel and this may be available by separate negotiation. The hotel is currently closed on Christmas Day and New Year so the owners can spend time with family, and the hotel is closed for the month of January and re-opens in the second week of February, so there is some potential to extend the trading year.
