Hotel Indigo Bath has received Green Key accreditation, a global sustainability standard for tourism businesses, after an audit of its environmental practices.Green Key, which is managed internationally by the Foundation for Environmental Education and in England by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, has certified more than 6,000 hotels and other sites across more than 70 countries.
The scheme was set up in 1994 and assesses organisations against criteria covering environmental management, staff engagement and ongoing improvement.
It comes as staff at Hotel Indigo Bath formed a green team in 2024 to identify and introduce sustainability measures across the business. The hotel said this year’s accreditation marked the start of further work to reduce its environmental impact.
Gemma Orford, operations manager of Hotel Indigo Bath, said: “We’re delighted to have been accredited with the Green Key which aligns perfectly with our values at Hotel Indigo Bath. We believe in not just providing exceptional service to our guests, but also in doing so in a way that minimises our impact on the environment.
“I’m very proud of the team who are passionate about sustainability. Together, we can make a meaningful impact on the environment and create a brighter future for generations to come.”
She added: “This is the first step in not only reducing our carbon footprint but also encouraging our guests to make more sustainable choices during their stay.”
