Heartwood Collection has purchased the Lord Byron in Trumpington, Cambridge, for an undisclosed sum as part of its national expansion into the pubs with rooms sector.
The site will undergo a significant refurbishment and rebranding before reopening as the Meadow Lark. The project includes the creation of 19 bedrooms.
The renovation will also update the bar and dining areas and enhance the outdoor space. It marks the first such development for the group in Cambridgeshire.
Heartwood currently operates 35 pubs and holds a three-star rating from the Sustainable Restaurant Association. It was named best brand at the 2025 Publican Awards.
The group stated the design is inspired by the nearby Trumpington Meadows nature reserve and the River Cam.
Chief executive Richard Ferrier said: “We are delighted to have acquired The Lord Byron in Trumpington and to be bringing it into the Heartwood family as The Meadow Lark. Inspired by the beautiful surrounding nature reserve, we look forward to creating a pub that truly reflects its landscape and community, somewhere guests can gather, dine and celebrate for many years to come.”
