The Penmere Manor Hotel in Falmouth has been brought to market with a guide price of £2m, bringing the Moore family’s 18 year ownership stint to an end.
The Grade II listed manor house has strong ties to the area’s maritime history, constructed in approximately 1825 by a captain of the Cornish Packet Service.
Over time, the property has been expanded to include 37 en suite bedrooms, a restaurant and bar, function facilities and a leisure club including pool, gym and sauna.
The Moore family said after two decades of establishing a solid rapport with both business and leisure guests, they are selling the business in order to retire.
Christie and Co, the firm who is managing the sale, said new owners can grow the business further by increasing off‑season occupancy, drawing more non-resident guests to the restaurant, extending events and conferences offerings and developing more facilities on the hotel’s extensive grounds, subject to planning consent.
