DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel and Spa Chester has completed a “major” refurbishment of 139 bedrooms, drawing inspiration from the site’s railway heritage.
The work, overseen by hotel management firm Valor Hospitality, forms part of a wider investment aimed at meeting growing demand for high-end accommodation in the city. The revamp includes full bedroom upgrades, improved lighting, enhanced in-room technology and new furnishings.
It follows an earlier phase that refreshed 80 bedrooms and updated the hotel’s entrance, reception, lounge and lobby. The latest phase, delivered by design firm ABDA Design, focuses on the East Wing and aims to improve comfort and style through contemporary design features.
The interiors reference the site’s links to the rail industry with elements such as metal finishes and headboards inspired by train design. The artwork also reflects local botanical history, featuring orchids and alpine plants once cultivated by a Chester family.
Valor Hospitality said the refurbishment was managed to minimise disruption to guests while maintaining operations.
General manager Philip Rankin said: “Our recent bedroom renovations represent a wider transformation across our entire hotel, ensuring we have consistency in quality, design and guest comfort throughout. By extending the luxury feel and modern finishes of our earlier refurbishment phase, we now offer a fully refreshed experience that goes above and beyond the expectations of our guests.”
Designer Anabel Twitchell Requena added: “At DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel and Spa Chester you’ll find subtle references to the local rail industry throughout the interiors, with details that reflect the industrial character of classic trains. The corridor layout echoes the feeling of walking through an enclosed train carriage, with colour-drenched walls and black accents bringing a contemporary interpretation of a timeless motif.”
