Luxury hotel group Corinthia has launched its debut Italian property in a restored 20th Century bank building on the Piazza del Parlamento.
Corinthia Rome occupies a 9,700-square-metre neoclassical palazzo formerly used as a stronghold for the Bank of Italy. The property, owned by Reuben Brothers, was constructed between 1913 and 1921. It marks the second collaboration between the owners and the hotel operator.
The restoration, led by hospitality design studio GA, stripped away later additions to reveal original 1920s frescoes, mosaics, and marble detailing. The hotel features 60 rooms, including 21 suites and a penthouse named after the Domus Aurea.
Chef Carlo Cracco makes his Roman debut at the property, overseeing the Viride restaurant, the Piazzetta, and Ocra Bar. The hotel also includes a subterranean spa located in the building’s original vault.
