CityHub to open first German hotel with Hamburg conversion

Netherlands-based hotel brand CityHub is to enter the German market with the redevelopment of an existing property in Hamburg, marking its fifth European location and first hotel conversion.

The project, which is in partnership with local investor and developer Kohler and von Bargen, will transform the former Hotel Pacific building into a 110-room site using CityHub’s modular “Hub” design. The redevelopment will double the building’s previous capacity of 52 units.

The hotel will occupy a location between St Pauli and Sternschanze, two districts noted for their nightlife and cultural venues, and will include private sleeping areas, shared bathrooms and a communal lounge. The site lies a short distance from Hamburg Central Station.

Remco Gerritsen, chief executive of CityHub, said: “Hamburg is one of Germany’s most dynamic and fastest-growing destinations, making it a natural fit for the next phase of our European expansion.”

The company, which already operates in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Copenhagen and Reykjavik, has focused on reusing existing buildings rather than constructing new ones.

According to Kohler and von Bargen, the partnership aims to create “a durable, sustainable” development that would add long-term value for investors and the local community.

Construction work is scheduled to begin later in 2025, with the opening targeted for 2027.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
