Bowood Estate appoints head of business development

The Bowood Estate in Wiltshire has announced the appointment of Kathrin Cockhill in a newly-created role as head of business development, with the aim to expand commercial opportunities for the historic hotel, spa and golf resort.

Cockhill joins with more than 20 years of experience in sales management, having previously held director roles at Hilton Hotels, Center Parcs, Andrew Brownsword Hotels and HotStats.

The head of business development is responsible for driving revenue growth across the entire estate. This includes the hotel, spa, golf resort, and house and gardens.

In her new role, Cockhill will also explore bespoke experiences for families and corporate clients. The estate confirmed that Cockhill will be tasked with fostering business partnerships and reviewing the international appeal of the estate with travel agencies.

The estate has been home to the Lansdowne family for more than 250 years. It currently includes accommodation, function spaces, and a spa.

Cockhill said: “It is a great privilege to help shape the future vision of Bowood and play a part in its evolution. Bowood has such a historically rich offer, and I’m looking forward to building on this to create new, desirable experiences for our guests. 

“I’m looking forward to combining my operational and sales experience to attract new audiences and ensure Bowood remains front of mind for those who have visited us in the past. Bowood is a special destination and I’m excited to be working with the team to deliver outstanding guest experiences for a number of new launches coming this year across the Estate.”
