Blackstone, the owner of Haven and Warner Hotels, is reportedly considering sanctioning a sale of Haven as early as next year, according to reports from Sky News.
The private equity firm, which owns a controlling stake in Bourne Leisure, may then look to dispose of Warner after selling Haven.
The group, which has already installed standalone chief executives at the two subsidiaries, is now focused on further operational and financial separation.
Bourne Leisure also owned Butlin’s until 2022 before the business was sold to the group’s co-founders, the Harris family, in a deal worth about £300m. Blackstone acquired Bourne in 2021.
Since buying the business Blackstone is said to have invested more than £550m in the portfolio.
The previous year was reported as a record one for Haven with bookings up 13% and the parks welcoming 3.6 million visitors. The company’s accounts for 2023 show that Bourne Leisure made a pre-tax loss of just over £166m.
Blackstone has yet to hire any banks to help coordinate the sales process of either business, according to people close to the company.
It comes after Haven hosted more than 400,000 guests over the Easter bank holiday, which the holiday park operator revealed has been a “record” 25% rise in the number of holidaymakers for the season.
With 39 parks located in various coastal spots, Haven attributed the sunny start to the month on the surge in staycations. When the weather changed, visitors were not deterred by the April showers.
As a result, Haven has had its biggest ever Easter holiday period, having seen “huge” demand in recent weeks leading to sales up by more than a quarter on Easter last year.
