Accor has announced it is set to open its first Ibis Styles hotel in Moldova’s capital, Chișinău, later this autumn, as a €12m (£10.3m) project aims to boost the country’s growing tourism sector.
The 100-room hotel is scheduled to open in autumn 2025. It is being developed by Regata Imobiliare as part of the ‘German Village’ project on the main road to Chișinău International Airport.
The development will include a restaurant, bar and terrace, an event centre, a fitness area and 45 parking spaces. About 50 new jobs are expected to be created.
Natalia Dubina, general manager of Ibis Styles Chișinău, said: “The opening of Ibis Styles Chișinău marks a defining moment in the evolution of tourism in the Republic of Moldova. Through this project, we are contributing to the creation of a new hub of economic and touristic appeal.”
Natalia Bejan, director of the Invest Moldova Agency, added: “We are encouraged by the growing investment in Moldova’s tourism sector, reflecting the country’s rising profile as an attractive destination for the millions of visitors it welcomes each year.”
Chișinău airport handled more than 2.45 million passengers in the first half of 2025, up 48.3% on the same period a year earlier. Tourist arrivals rose 7.5% in the first quarter of the year compared with 2024, while overnight stays increased 23.2%.
The Invest Moldova Agency said it would continue to support the project beyond the opening through its Aftercare programme, which assists investors with expansion and reinvestment.
