Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council has granted planning permission for the £25m redevelopment of Kirklevington Hall into a boutique hotel and spa, which has remained vacant since March 2023.
The project is led by developer Chris Musgrave in partnership with hotel operator Kymel. Design work was completed by GSSArchitecture and planning consultancy Lichfields. The developers intend to restore the historic estate to create a high-end leisure destination.
Under the approved proposals, the hall will be refurbished to create 18 guest suites and a restaurant extension. The site will include a wellness spa with treatment rooms, a swimming pool, and an exercise studio.
The wider estate will feature walled garden spa lodges and 20 woodland lodges. A dedicated events pavilion and a converted Victorian stables building will provide a venue for weddings and conferences within the landscaped gardens.

The development will revitalise the area and deliver meaningful economic benefits for the wider community.”
