Bishopstrow Hotel and Spa has confirmed a £2.5m investment to reposition its wellness facilities as a nature-led spa destination.
The redevelopment is scheduled for completion in May 2026, with the full facility expected to open to the public in June.
The project introduces an “outdoor spa village” across the hotel’s 30-acre Wiltshire estate. The new facilities include a 14-metre outdoor swimming pool, an 8-metre hydrotherapy pool, and a range of thermal contrast therapy options.
New installations include a large outdoor sauna designed for communal rituals and a dedicated cold plunge bath for cold-water therapy.
The development, led by spa director Angela Bonner, incorporates the estate’s river garden, kitchen garden, and woodland trails into the guest experience. The spa will also feature outdoor studios for fitness and non-touch therapies, alongside a new outdoor bar serving refreshments and light bites.
Treatments will focus on holistic wellbeing, utilising plants and herbs sourced from the estate. The hotel also confirmed it will continue to offer forest bathing, a Japanese-inspired practice it introduced in 2025.
The hotel is part of the Kaleidoscope Hotels collection, which also includes the Bird in Bath and Homewood in Freshford.
Ashley Torr, general manager of Bishopstrow Hotel and Spa, said: “Our vision for the spa at Bishopstrow is to be a space where the estate itself is the primary therapeutic tool. By integrating our new outdoor spa village within the landscape, we hope to invite people to reconnect with nature.
“Our new treatments and therapies will perfectly complement our outdoor focus. Services like our popular forest bathing will now sit alongside a new curated menu designed to maximise the benefits of thermal contrasts and the open air.”
