Historic Wellingborough hotel hits the market

A 17th Century former coaching inn in Wellingborough town centre has hit the market for an undisclosed price.

The Hind Hotel, located on Sheep Street, is a Grade II* listed building. It is noted for its connection to the English Civil War, where Parliamentarian generals reportedly planned strategies for the Battle of Naseby in 1645.

The property recently underwent an external refurbishment costing £1.3m, funded in partnership with Wellingborough Borough Council and the Heritage Lottery Fund. A further £600,000 was spent on bedrooms, while £300,000 was used to modernise ground floor areas and equipment.

Facilities include 34 en-suite bedrooms, three function rooms, a restaurant, and a residents’ lounge bar. The site also features a coffee shop, kitchens, and a courtyard car park with space for approximately 11 vehicles.

The sale is being managed by director of Prop-Search Simon Toseland. The hotel is currently closed to the public, though it is being marketed to both hospitality operators and property developers.

Toseland said: “Whilst the Hind Hotel has sadly closed its doors for now, it represents a rare opportunity to acquire a building positioned at the very heart of Wellingborough. The combination of a historic listed building with modern upgrades, creates an offering that we anticipate will appeal to operators looking to capitalise on its future business potential.

“Alternatively, we can see the hotel offering an opportunity to a developer for adaptive reuse, with a possible transformation to create a mixed-use commercial/residential space, cultural venue or high-end apartments.”

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
