LQ Resorts has acquired the Parkway Hotel and Spa in Cwmbran, expanding its UK portfolio with the support of a seven-figure loan from the Development Bank of Wales.
The 80-room hotel, set within more than seven acres, has been purchased with funding provided through the Wales Tourism Investment Fund.
The Wales Tourism Investment Fund is financed by the Welsh Government and provides loans of between £100,000 and £5m for tourism projects that align with government priorities, including high-quality visitor experiences and distinctive accommodation.
The Parkway Hotel and Spa is a long-established venue for spa breaks, conferences, weddings and leisure stays.
The hotel becomes the latest site operated by LQ Resorts, which already runs three destination resorts, including a flagship property near the Welsh border between Oswestry and Wrexham.
LQ Resorts said it has already begun upgrading the site, including installing new gym equipment and refurbishing the bar area, with further investment planned.
The acquisition was supported by funding from the Development Bank of Wales, allowing the existing team to be retained and improvements to begin immediately.
