Met Hotel Leeds has opened Gott’s Bar and Kitchen, a new in-house restaurant following the completion of a major refurbishment of the Grade II listed city centre hotel.
The venue operates an all-day dining menu using locally sourced ingredients.
Menu items include steak and onion pie, grilled salmon with seaweed beurre blanc and Korean miso cauliflower, alongside a drinks list.
The Grade II listed building, which opened in 1899, has also undergone internal refurbishment works since 2023.
The hotel’s exterior, including its terracotta façade and Victorian detailing, has been retained, while its interiors have been redesigned.
The Met was designed by Leeds architects Chorley and Connon, with interiors by Matthews Mee. The refurbishment has included work to the entrance, central staircase and barrel-vaulted ceilings, alongside updated lighting, materials and furnishings.
Additionally, guest bedrooms and suites have been reconfigured, with layouts informed by the building’s original Victorian structure. The hotel said the changes were intended to retain historic features while meeting current operational standards.
The hotel’s meetings and events spaces, including the ballroom, have also been refurbished. The Met now has nine function rooms for corporate events, weddings and private use, fitted with updated technical facilities.
The refurbishment included sustainability measures, such as the use of locally sourced materials and recycled or repurposed finishes.
Mike Liddle, general manager of Met Hotel Leeds, said: “The Met Hotel Leeds has always been a special place for the city – a meeting point, a celebration space, and a landmark in its own right. Our vision was to honour its legacy while creating something truly inspiring for today’s guests. The result is a hotel that feels timeless yet completely renewed and a place where history meets modern hospitality.”

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
