Premier Inn opens new hotel in Hastings town centre

Premier Inn has opened a new hotel in Hastings town centre, expanding its presence in the East Sussex seaside town.

The 84-bedroom hotel, located on Cornwallis Street, opened on 12 December and is Premier Inn’s second site in Hastings.

The hotel was officially opened by Helena Dollimore, Labour and Co-operative MP for Hastings and Rye, who attended a ribbon-cutting event with members of the hotel team and Whitbread representatives.

The property includes standard rooms and Premier Plus bedrooms, as well as a ground-floor restaurant, The Social.

Whitbread, the owner of Premier Inn, developed the hotel on the site of a former car park. The ground-plus-four-storey building covers approximately 3,000 square metres and was constructed over a 15-month period.

The opening has created 25 jobs, with staff recruited to operate the new hotel.

Ahead of the opening, the Hastings town centre hotel team volunteered with local organisations, including a donation centre operated by St Michael’s Hospice, and took part in a beach clean.

Whitbread also distributed £9,000 from its Force for Good fund to three local charities selected by the hotel team.

Simone Casey, new openings project manager at Whitbread, said the opening involved collaboration with local partners during recruitment and preparation for trading.

Premier Inn operates around 850 hotels across the UK and Ireland, and is due to open a new Premier Inn on Bognor Regis seafront in spring next year and has begun site clearance for a 130-bedroom hotel in Littlehampton town centre.

It is also seeking a site for a future Premier Inn in Rye.

Jordan Tomkinson, construction project manager at Whitbread, said: “We’ve transformed an under-utilised car park into a new Premier Inn hotel, investing in the local economy during construction and creating 25 permanent hospitality jobs.”

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
