Barons Eden has acquired Orsett Hall Hotel, Restaurant and Spa in Essex for an undisclosed sum, marking the hospitality group’s second purchase since receiving investment from Alchemy Partners earlier this year.
The Georgian-style country house hotel sits within 12 acres of landscaped grounds in Orsett, near Grays. It comprises 57 en-suite bedrooms, including four bridal suites, alongside event spaces, a chapel, five lodges and a spa.
Orsett Hall is among Essex’s largest wedding and events venues, with capacity for up to 1,000 guests across several function spaces. The four-star hotel is around 40 minutes from central London and close to the M25 and Stanford-le-Hope station.
Barons Eden chief executive Edward Law said: “We are delighted to have acquired Orsett Hall in Essex, which is our second acquisition since Alchemy Partners’ investment into Barons Eden earlier this year. Orsett Hall is a particularly well-situated countryside hotel, and we are excited to have the opportunity to significantly invest in the property to create a destination spa resort so close to London.”
Henry Jackson, partner and head of hotel agency at Knight Frank who handled the sale, added: “Orsett Hall presented an exceptional opportunity to acquire a well-established country house hotel in a prime Home Counties location. The property’s combination of high-quality accommodation, extensive events facilities and strong operational performance attracted significant interest, and we are delighted to have completed the sale to Barons Eden.”
Sophy Barton-Wright, speaking on behalf of the Barton-Wright family, said: “Orsett Hall has been part of our family since 1993 and in that time has become so much more than just a business. As we turn the page on this chapter, it feels like the right time for someone new to take Orsett Hall forward. We’re excited to see what the new owners will do with this very special place and can’t wait to watch its next chapter unfold.”

The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
