The Gunter Hotel in San Antonio has reopened following a $57 million renovation, featuring updated guest rooms, a recording studio, and new dining options.

The Gunter Hotel in San Antonio, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s Tribute Portfolio, has reopened after a $57 million renovation. Originally opened in 1909, the hotel now features 311 guest rooms, including 30 suites and 14 rooms that are ADA-compliant. The property also includes a recording studio, a vinyl library with over 900 albums, and four new dining and bar concepts.

The renovation, led by DLR Group, integrates the building’s Beaux-Arts architectural style with contemporary design elements. Each guest room is equipped with a record player and a copy of blues legend Robert Johnson’s first album, commemorating his 1936 recording session at the hotel. A curated vinyl library is available in the lobby, with a Vinyl Ambassador on hand to offer recommendations.

The hotel offers a range of amenities, including a rooftop pool, a 24/7 fitness center, and 20,000 square feet of meeting space. Public spaces, including the signature restaurant Jots and the Keystone Club, are now open, with the full hotel expected to be operational later this year.

Jots, characterized by inkwell blue walls and leather banquettes, serves breakfast daily from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The Keystone Club, featuring a fluted brass bar and art deco chandeliers, operates from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Both venues are currently offering limited menus before their full launches. Bar 414, a speakeasy named after the room where Johnson recorded, is set to open soon. Additionally, Paris Baguette will open its first San Antonio location within the hotel, offering a selection of pastries and coffee.

A new recording studio, located above Bar 414 and accessible via a hidden staircase, is scheduled to open later this year. The Gunter Hotel is part of the Marriott Bonvoy program, with phased openings scheduled to continue through 2025.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
