7H has announced the addition of the Islay House Hotel, on the Isle of Islay, in the Hebrides to its portfolio of managed properties.
This onboarding comes as a result of a change of ownership at the hotel. It said the new owners are “committed to preserving the estate’s heritage while elevating the guest experience”.
The hotel was sold in October last year by a consortium led by Steven Haag to the California-based Payne-Clark family for an undisclosed sum.
The house and grounds will be refurbished and further hospitality operations added, to finish the work originally begun by the selling party.
Works to restore areas of the house such as the Victorian kitchen, a dedicated whisky bar, an all-day dining concept and bringing the extensive walled garden back to life, will all be planned.
The hotel is expected to reopen as a full-service luxury hotel in spring 2026, following the sale. Islay House will embark on its extensive refurbishment in early 2025 and operate on a restricted bed and breakfast basis until spring 2026.
Conner Hutchison, head of brand and communications at 7 Hospitality Management, said: “We are honoured to welcome Islay House Hotel into the 7H family,” said: “This is more than a partnership, it’s a shared commitment to excellence, sustainability, and uniquely local experiences.”
Martin MacPhail, managing director at 7H, added: “This is a landmark moment for Islay House. We look forward to reintroducing this historic gem to the global market, offering guests a timeless yet refreshed Scottish experience.”
7H operates a portfolio of 22 hotels across Scotland and England and recently celebrated its seventh anniversary having been founded in 2017. It has grown from a boutique consultancy into a full-service hotel management company.

Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
