7 Hospitality Management has been appointed to operate two Lake District hotels – The Ro in Windermere and The Haweswater Hotel on the eastern shore of the Haweswater Reservoir.
The dual appointment expands the company’s presence in one of the UK’s leading tourist destinations and reflects its focus on managing diverse, experience-led hotels in both urban and rural settings.
The Ro Hotel is a modern 87-bedroom property located in central Windermere, near the lake. It offers contemporary, inclusive hospitality with a strong local identity and views over the surrounding landscape.
7 Hospitality Management said it would aim to enhance guest experiences, streamline operations and deliver sustainable long-term value while supporting the hotel’s existing brand ethos.
The Haweswater Hotel is a 21-bedroom Art Deco property overlooking the remote reservoir. Surrounded by 100 square miles of nature reserve, it is known for its period character, seclusion, and connection to local history – including the submerged village of Mardale Green, lost during reservoir construction.
The hotel is also home to the Mark Greenaway Restaurant, which offers a produce-led menu from the eponymous Scottish chef.
7 Hospitality Management said its focus would be on preserving the Haweswater property’s heritage while enhancing performance and supporting the team.
The appointment forms part of a wider UK growth strategy for the group, which manages both independent and branded hotels. Its core services include operational management, refurbishment oversight, commercial planning and team development.
Managing director Martin Macphail said: “We’re delighted to be taking on the operational management of two such unique and beloved properties. Each hotel offers something completely different – from the stylish, welcoming vibe of The Ro in Windermere to the tranquil, timeless appeal of The Haweswater Hotel. Together, they showcase the breadth of the Lake District’s hospitality offering and we’re excited to play a part in their continued success.”
Head of brand and communications Conner Hutchison added: “The Lake District is a region with huge potential – rich in natural beauty, history, and guest demand. Our focus will be on supporting both hotels to thrive, while preserving what makes them truly special.”
